Popular Web site browsers statistics explored

We hear a lot of talk about the increasing popularity of the FireFox Web browser, and how it’s stealing market share from Internet Explorer. After doing a bit of research online, we found it difficult to get answers on the actual percentage share actually among today’s top browsers. So, we decided to review the hard data we can access.

Interestingly, Apple’s Safari browser pulls in almost as many visits as FireFox. We will continue to watch these trends for these sites (and possibly even more diverse businesses) over the coming months.

The charts below list the breakdown of browsers used for the last 10,000 vists on a particularly Web site. The Web site’s industry is the title for the table. Bot visits by search engines crawling the site are not included (such as Googlebot, MSNbot etc). These Web sites are the online arms United States businesses and receive the majority of their traffic (~90%) from U.S. IP addresses.
